Cambridge 2nds 27 - 17 Shelford 2nds

Cambridge became county champions at Grange Rd with a well deserved win over Shelford.  But the win was by no means comfortable with the teams tied on 17 each with the clock showing 80 minutes.

The first Cambridge try came from Ashley Elvers, playing at 13, running in from distance.  The second finished by Simon Johnson but made by Ben Penfold.  With Fin Creighton converting both and adding a penalty Cambridge took what seemed like a comfortable 17-3 lead into the second half.

Over the course of second half though, Shelford found their attacking game and despite a well organised Cambridge defense managed to tie up the scores at 17 each before Ben Penfold converted a late penalty, and Mike Stanway ran in under the post after beating Shelford's last line of defense.

So a satisfying conclusion to a high quality and winning season from the 2nds.  Congratulations to all involved.
